Your phone number
Who still controls
your SimpleTalk number
The login cannot move it anymore. The number is on a carrier you pay, on a GoHighLevel location you can still open, or it was issued inside SimpleTalk. Those three cases need three different calls.

You can sort this without a SimpleTalk login. Look at who sends the bill, and whether the number shows up on a GoHighLevel location you can still open.
You pay the carrier
The invoice, Twilio account, Vonage account, or SIP trunk is in your name or your agency's name. Open that carrier. Point the number at a person, or at Lippy, by forwarding or SIP. Leave a person as the backup until one real inbound call lands where your team works.
It lives in GoHighLevel you own
Open the location. Check the phone number's voice and SMS settings. If they still point at SimpleTalk, change them there. Contacts and the calendar stay. Turn off SimpleTalk workflows before you turn a new receptionist on, or the same person gets two calls.
SimpleTalk issued the number
You never had a carrier login, and the only place the number could be moved was their dashboard. That dashboard is gone. The carrier may deal only with its account holder, which is SimpleTalk and now runs through the bankruptcy trustee. Contact the carrier named on any invoice, letter of authorization, or port record you still have, ask what it needs, and use the case number to reach the trustee's office. Hold the new-number announcement until you know whether this one can be recovered.

Use records that never lived inside SimpleTalk.
- 1
Find the bill
Look for the last invoice that mentions the phone number. The company on that bill is who you call.
- 2
Open GoHighLevel
If you can still sign in, look under the location's phone numbers. A number listed there is a number you can change from GoHighLevel.
- 3
Search email
Search for the number along with port, LOA, Twilio, or Vonage. Onboarding mail and the last invoice are the record the dashboard used to be.
- 4
Call the number
Call it from your cell. Write down the time and exactly what you hear. A number that still answers is still a live line, even with the website down.
Before customers hear a new number
Whattoholdoffon,andwhattodofirst
Hold off on
- Publishing a new number before you have checked the carrier and GoHighLevel
- Waiting on the November 9 creditors' meeting to answer today's calls
- Waiting for the old dashboard to come back before you cover the line
Do this
- Name the company that bills the number
- Point a number you control at a person, or at Lippy by forwarding or SIP
- Place one inbound test call before you tell customers anything changed
- If texts are still going out, stop them from GoHighLevel or the dialer you control
